Anthony Weiner wants a short leave of absence from congress, so that he can seek professional help. His spokeswoman said he wanted treatment to make himself well. He wants to become a better husband and healthier person, in light of what has happened.

Weiner has confessed to sending inappropriate tweets and lewd pictures of himself to various women, in different states. Police in New Castle Del, are now investigating tweets Weiner had exchanged tweets with a 17-year-old girl there.

Democratic leaders are calling for Weiner to resign. Both National party chairman Debbie Wasserman Schultz and House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi are calling for Weiner to resign.

Wasserman  Schultz said “It is with great disappointment that I call on Representative Anthony Weiner to resign. The behavior he has exhibited is indefensible and Representative Weiner’s continued service in Congress is untenable.”

House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California issued a statement saying Weiner “needs help” and he should get some “without the pressures of being a member of Congress.”
